Like Wikipedia, Glottopedia aims to have a series of portals for the main thematic areas of linguistics. A portal is an introductory page for a given topic. It complements the main article of the subject by introducing the reader to key articles and categories that further describe the subject. Portals also help editors find related projects and things they can do to help improve Glottopedia in that area.

For each portal, a maintainer is required. If you would like to take responsibility for a particular thematic area, just create a portal and write your name on the corresponding discussion page. At the moment, there are no specific rules for what portals should look like in Glottopedia.
