In contact linguistics, the term contact language is sometimes used to refer generically to languages whose genesis was significantly influenced by language contact, i.e. pidgins, creoles, and other kinds of mixed languages.

Polysemy

The term contact language is also sometimes used simply for a language that has been in contact with another language; see contact language (i.e. language in contact).
