Subjects hear two different sound signals simultaneously through earphones. When asked to state what was heard in each ear, the responses to the right ear (which corresponds to the left brain hemisphere) stimuli are more correct when linguistic in nature (words, syllables etc.). The left ear (corresponding to the right brain hemisphere) does better with nonverbal sounds.
