Adversative coordination is the coordinative linking of two syntactic elements that display some form of semantic contrast.
Examples
It is raining, but we are going outside.
My house is small but beautiful.
Subtypes
- contrastive adversative coordination (German aber, Spanish pero)
- corrective adversative coordination (German sondern, Spanish sino)
